This allows a small hollow space to be formed between the panels. The algae cultivation solution is filled into this hollow space.
The single modules are installed horizontally. These modules are installed next to one another to form the reactor. The panels of such a reactor can theoretically be made of glass or different plastics. In industrial operation however, only flat panel reactors made of polyvinylchloride (PVC) are used.
During the cultivation phase, it has to be possible to give the algae solution CO2 and nutrients. This is done through hoses that are installed at the bottom of the reactor module. Further hoses at the bottom ensure the algae harvest.
